In brief: Brazil’s steel production down in September

 * Instituto Aço Brasil, an association of Brazilian steel producers, has presented new figures which show that Brazil’s steel output reached 2.7m tonnes (t) in September, down 3.4% compared to August. Sales in the local market reached 1.8mt in September, up 0.5 % on the previous month. In August, domestic sales of steel were up 3.6% compared to July. The sector’s exports posted a monthly decline of 3.8% in September, reaching 874,000t, while imports decreased 26.2%, to 235,000t.
