HONDURAS: Key alliance unravels

The electoral alliance between the ruling left-wing Libertad y Refundación (Libre) of President Xiomara Castro and Partido Salvador de Honduras (PSH) of Vice President Salvador Nasralla, which was crucial to her victory in the November 2021 election, appears to have come unstuck. Both Nasralla and Castro’s husband, ejected former president Manuel Zelaya (2006-2009), have acknowledged its demise which the media attributes in part to Nasralla’s frustration at not being given much influence in government.
