In brief: Brazil’s unemployment keeps on falling

*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released the latest employment figures, showing that unemployment stood at 8.7% in the rolling quarter ending in September. This is the lowest unemployment rate since the rolling quarter ending in June 2015 and represents a decline of 0.6 percentage points on the preceding rolling quarter (April-June), and of 3.9 percentage points year-on-year. The informality rate stood at 39.4%, compared to 40.0% in the previous quarter and 40.6% in the same period of 2021 with the number of informal workers reaching 39.1m.
