*Argentina’s government led by President Alberto Fernández has announced a rise in all pensions, starting from December. Alongside Economy Minister Sergio Massa, Fernanda Raverta, head of the national social security administration (Anses), announced the increases, which will mean no pension will be below Ar$60,000 (US$374) a month for the months in which certain bonuses apply. The 15.62% pension increase will be introduced in addition to a bonus for those receiving pensions up to the value of two minimum pensions, which will be paid in December, January and February. Raverta said these measures would translate to an annual increase of 107% for the minimum pension in 2022. The bonus will be of Ar$10,000 for those who receive up to a minimum pension, progressively decreasing to Ar$7,000 for those receiving the equivalent of up to two minimum pensions. Raverta stated that the 15.62% pension increase would affect over 17m Argentines, impacting all pensions, retirement benefits and allowances.
