In brief: Colombia posts solid Q3 growth

* Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has announced that the country’s GDP rose by 7.0% in the third quarter of 2022 compared with the same quarter in 2021. In comparison with the immediately preceding quarter, GDP in Q3 2022 was up 1.6%. The GDP increase was driven by rising output in three category groupings according to Dane: trade, vehicle maintenance, transport & storage, accommodation, and food services (up 8.1% year-on-year; arts, entertainment & recreation (36.9%) and manufacturing (7.0%). The latest (August) forecast from the United Nations Economic Commission on Latin America & Caribbean (Eclac) expects Colombia’s GDP will grow 6.5% in 2022, above the 2.6% average for South America.
