In brief: Industrial production falls in Chile

* Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has announced that industrial production fell by 4.2% in October compared with the same month in 2021. This was primarily due to a 9.2% fall in manufacturing, driven by an 18.2% decrease in the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The INE also highlighted a 1.5% decrease in the production of electricity, gas and water. In contrast, Chile’s mining production index (IPMin) rose by 0.7% year-on-year.
