MEXICO: US threatens legal action over biotech corn ban

US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack pulled no punches following a meeting with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in Mexico City on 28 November. The meeting concerned a 2020 decree ordering the phasing out of imports of genetically modified, or biotechnology, products to Mexico by January 2024. Concerns have been rising in the US over what this would mean for corn producers.
