In brief: Chile’s unemployment rises in annual terms

* Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has released the latest employment figures, showing that unemployment stood at 7.9% during the October-December 2022 rolling quarter, an increase of 0.7 percentage points year-on-year. The 7.9% figure is unchanging on the previous rolling quarter but in seasonally adjusted terms the unemployment rate stood at 8.3%, up 0.1 percentage point on the previous rolling quarter. According to INE, the informal employment rate stands at 27.4%, up from 28.3% in the same quarter in 2021, and slightly higher than the 27.3% rate registered in the previous rolling quarter.
