REGION: Managing migration in the Caribbean

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), in conjunction with the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), has just published an important report entitled “Migration, Integration, and Diaspora Engagement in the Caribbean”. The perhaps surprising headline finding is how important intraregional migration has become to the Caribbean. There have been various drivers for this, including regional mobility agreements, migration pressures from natural disasters and climate change, and the political, economic, and security crises in Venezuela and Haiti (which has also suffered significant natural disasters).
