*Nicaragua’s government led by President Daniel Ortega has announced that arrival of the 250 buses from China – the first fleet of buses from Chinese company Yutong. The buses will be used in the capital Managua and Ciudad Sandino municipality, also in Managua department. President Ortega said that next month Nicaragua will receive a second fleet of 250 buses. This is the latest sign of burgeoning relations between China and Nicaragua following the establishment of bilateral relations in December 2021 after the Ortega government severed ties with Taiwan. Also indicative of this increasing cooperation, the two countries signed a free trade agreement (FTA) on 31 August.
