Daunting challenges await Ecuador’s Noboa

President Daniel Noboa took office on 24 November, becoming the youngest leader in Ecuador’s history at 35 years old. He promptly unveiled a tax reform bill which he says is urgently needed to resolve a dire financial situation inherited by his government. With just an 18-month truncated term ahead of him, Noboa will have little time to make headway on his priorities of boosting employment and reducing crime.
