In brief: Remittances to Dominican Republic in line with year-end forecast

*The Dominican Republic’s Central Bank (BCRD) has released new figures which show that remittances sent to the country exceeded US$9.2bn between January-November 2023. The BCRD states this is in keeping with projections for remittances to exceed US$10bn by the end of 2023. The report shows that, in November 2023, remittances to the Dominican Republic amounted to US$788m, growing by 0.1 % compared to November 2022, representing the 11th consecutive month of annual increase this year. However, remittances in November were down 4.7% on the US$827.1m received in October 2023 and marked the second-lowest monthly total of the year, after February (US$764.3m). According to the BCRD, 84.5% of remittances in November came from the US, while Spain accounted for 5.8%.
