BRAZIL: Public mood dampens on economy

National pollsters have released data showing a decline in public approval for the federal government and for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Among other issues fuelling public disillusionment is increasing pessimism about the state of the economy, according to respondents surveyed by polling firm AtlasIntel. Market confidence in the Lula administration has also been impacted recently, amid concerns over government interference in the state-controlled oil company Petrobras.
