ECONOMIC OVERVIEW: EL SALVADOR

The government is forecasting that GDP growth in 2007 will come in at between 4.5% and 5%. The forecast comes from Luz Marí­a de Portillo, the president of the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR). She said that economic activity in the third quarter was better than expected. She said that agriculture, transport, financial services and commerce were all doing well. The government's existing forecast is for GDP growth of between 4.5% and 5%.
