BOLIVIA: Bolivia-US relations patchy

Relations between Bolivia and the US took a turn for the worse at inAugust. On 2 August the US ambassador to Bolivia, Philip Goldberg, said that there had been an increase in the illegal cultivation of coca and drug-trafficking under the Morales administration (accusations which the government denies). Following this, the US was accused by various government officials of intervening in Bolivian politics.
