Development: On 10 October the mayoral candidates for Asunción , Miguel Carrisoza of the Partido Patria Querida (PPQ), and Franklin 'Anki' Boccia of the Partido Liberal Radical Auténtico (PLRA), officially agreed to an alliance by which they intend to present a consensus candidate for the 7 November elections.
 
Significance: The PLRA and the PPQ are members of the ruling coalition that is aiming to defeat the incumbent opposition Asociación Nacional Republicana-Partido Colorado (ANR-PC) in Asunción .
