The US delayed any chance of the alleged drug smuggler, Zhenli Ye Gon,
being extradited to Mexico by indicting him for drug smuggling on 24 July. The
Mexican government wants Zhenli after he made a series of sensational
allegations linking drug smugglers and the financing of the victorious Partido
Acción Nacional's election campaign in 2006. Further revelations have
highlighted the links between Zhenli and members of the government of President
Vicente Fox; the ease with which Zhenli appeared to get around customs
regulations and his possible business links with President Fox's controversial
