PRD attempts to close ranks in the Dominican Republic

Development: On 24 January nine national deputies of the opposition Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD) called on the party’s president, Miguel Vargas Maldonado, to take leave of absence so that the party’s presidential candidate, Hipólito Mejía, can temporarily assume the PRD’s leadership.
