ECONOMIC OVERVIEW: PERU

While the government led by President Ollanta Humala managed to reach an agreement over mining taxes, which ensures that the government would receive a healthy amount of resources to finance any development projects, there are signs that Peru’s current tax regime still has some deficiencies that are crippling the state’s ability to promote fundamental development projects.
