Morales back to his old tricks. On 17 March President Evo Morales threatened to close the US embassy if the US “continues bothering Bolivia”. He also accused the national opposition of involvement in recent protests against a planned road through an indigenous territory and national park, Isiboro Sécure (Tipnis), accusations he had previously levelled at the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in the country. The president's latest anti-US rant comes as his government is seeking to patch up relations with Washington in the framework of a
November 2011 bilateral accord.
