CUBA: Stick with doi moi, urges Vietnam

Nguyen Phu Trong, head of Vietnam’s communist party, headed up an official delegation to Cuba in early April where notably, he urged Cuba to stick with its version of doi moi. The pep talk from the senior Vietnamese official came at critical point, amid a lack of official clarity over the progress of Cuba’s tentative economic reform process and nervousness in the government about the fate of President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela, Cuba’s main benefactor.
