Calderón pays a long awaited visit to Cuba

With just seven months left in his six-year mandate, President Felipe Calderón travelled to Havana in April to meet President Raúl Castro, the first trip to Cuba by a Mexican leader in a decade. While there was little in the way of concrete agreements, the visit represents a symbolic step towards repairing bilateral ties between the former allies after several failed attempts, fulfilling a promise made by Calderón.
