The state of the Argentine transport system is notorious. On 6 June President Cristina Fernández removed responsibility for the sector from the planning minister Julio de Vido and, oddly, transferred it to the interior ministry, run by Florencio Randazzo, a minister who, like De Vido, has latterly fallen out of favor with the president. Critics said the move was like ‘mixing grapefruits with horseradish’ and questioned whether the president made her decission based on managerial ability alone.
