President Juan Manuel Santos is intent on sticking to his daily mantra – “no pecu”, to remind himself that he should “not fight with [former president Alvaro] Uribe” (pecu is an abbreviation of ‘pelear con Uribe’). However, Uribe (2002-2010), who less than two years ago was encouraging Colombians to support the presidential bid of his chosen successor, is intent on forcing Santos to join him in the ring for the political fight of the century.
