BOLIVIA: Morales claims victory over second Tipnis march

Unlike last year’s national march against the government’s proposed road through an indigenous territory and national park, Isiboro Sécure (Tipnis), which caused a major political crisis for President Evo Morales, forcing a temporary U-turn, the second march has failed. The protesters who arrived La Paz in early July, having set off at the end of April from Beni, over 500km away, were forced to return empty-handed, having failed to secure a meeting with Morales.
