Capriles to meet Santos in Bogotá. Venezuela’s opposition presidential candidate, Henrique Capriles Radonski, will meet in a private capacity with President Juan Manuel Santos in the Colombian capital today (19 September). Announcing the trip at a rally in the Western border state of Zulia, Capriles stated, “There are a lot of matters to be discussed with Colombia. We will be there for a few hours and then we’ll return to continue with our extraordinary campaign…We have to prepare the ground for the strengthening of relations with Colombia”. He noted that if elected on 7 October, he would promote bilateral trade with an emphasis on selling Venezuelan-made goods. Finally, he added that he would offer Santos Venezuela’s assistance as a mediator in the Colombian government’s peace talks with the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc).
