COLOMBIA: First two snags appear early in the peace effort

The first two snags in the Colombian peace effort have surfaced even before the formal launch of the negotiations, scheduled for mid October in Oslo. One involves the US; the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias (Farc) has included in its list of negotiators a man who is serving a long sentence in a Colorado prison. The other is the Farc’s denial that they are still holding civilian hostages. Neither appears easy to surmount, but they might not be exactly what they seem.
