REGION: Signs of traffic shifting back to the Caribbean route

A study by a US Senate caucus released in September warns that drug traffickers will once again turn to the Caribbean route they used to favour in the 1980s, in response to the increased pressure on the Central American route. In fact, evidence has been mounting that suggests this has already been happening since last year, though the magnitude and features of the shift are far from clear.
