COLOMBIA: Pa’ la Habana they went

When the Colombian government confirmed that it had entered peace negotiations with the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc), the latter released a rap video announcing that they were going to Havana, Cuba, “to discuss the future of my nation” [WR-12-34]. This week, the Colombian government confirmed it had lifted all arrest warrants issued against 30 Farc guerrillas, who make up the group’s negotiating team at the upcoming talks in Oslo due to begin on 15 October. Before heading to Europe, all the Farc representatives went “pa’ la Habana” on several flights arranged by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC); they were also accompanied by Cuban and Norwegian guarantors. The safe arrival of all members was confirmed on Tuesday this week.
