ARGENTINA: New problems, old (violent) ways

Bombs, shootouts and kidnappings. This week members of the Argentine labour union movement in different parts of the country were victims of numerous forms of violence – in some cases it was even union-on-union violence. As political tension in the country increases and the power struggle to control the union movement intensifies, a real danger for an escalation in union-related violence is beginning to take shape and authorities will need to take note and act accordingly or risk its potential increase.
