COLOMBIA: Oslo talks delayed

The representatives of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) who will participate in peace talks with the Juan Manuel Santos government in Oslo, Norway, finished arriving in Havana, Cuba, on the day the talks were scheduled to commence (15 October). According to the guerrilla, bad weather had delayed the transport of the group's second most important leader, Iván Márquez (Luciano Marín Arango), who is responsible for the Farc's international relations. However, the surprises weren't only climatic: the Farc has included as one of its negotiators 'Alexandra' or 'Eileen' (Tanja Nijmeijer), a Dutch woman who voluntarily joined the Farc after completing her university degree in The Netherlands and has spent slightly over a decade in its ranks.
