MEXICO: Homicides down; perception of violence improves

The number of murders in 2012 fell by 20% on the previous year, according to figures published by the national daily Reforma. The paper’s Ejecutόmetro reported that there were 9,913 homicides during 2012, down from 12,366 in 2011, when levels of violence peaked.
