POLITICS| Gun control campaign. On 15 April Mexican human rights organisations launched a new social media campaign urging the Mexican and US governments to adopt measures to control the “alarming” levels of cross border assault weapons trafficking from the US into Mexico. The campaign asks Mexican and US citizens to sign a petition calling for stricter gun sale controls in the US and for the Mexican government to introduce improved border checks. Gun control legislation is under discussion currently in the US Congress, where the Senate debate scheduled for last week was postponed at the request of Republican congressmen.
