BRAZIL: Lula promises economic stimulus

President Lula da Silva said in his first speech of 2009 that the government will boost investments in the first quarter to prop up key productive sectors, amid growing signs of a sharp deceleration in the real economy. The promise came as Lula forecast a “worrying" first quarter during his weekly radio programme Café com o Presidente.
