Remittances continue to fall. Remittances from Mexican citizens living abroad totalled US$1.9bn in April, 6.4% less than the level observed in the same period last year, Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) revealed on 3 June. The results mean that the level of remittances coming into Mexico has experienced a year-on-year fall on inflow levels for 10 straight months. This as although there were 6.3m transactions registered during the period the average value of each transaction decreased from US$332.94 in April 2012 to US$299.72 this year.
