DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Medina gets top marks

As President Danilo Medina prepares to mark his first nine months in office on 20 June, he and his Partido de la Liberación Dominicana (PLD) government remain popular – not only among the general public but crucially, the country’s fickle business sector. All this, despite adopting some tough measures to address the large fiscal deficit and other serious economic problems inherited from the previous PLD administration.
