COLOMBIA | Inflation controlled. Inflation reached 7.7% in 2008, driven by rising food prices, according to the national statistics agency, Dane. This exceeded the target of 3.5% to 4.5% set by the central bank, and the 5.7% figure recorded in 2007, but the government met with some success in its measures to curb inflation in the second half of the year after a runaway start.
