ECONOMY & POLITICS: Big strides towards changing energy matrix

Ecuador is moving closer to being able to cover 100% of its energy needs from hydroelectric power. The transformation of the country’s energy matrix should be one of the enduring legacies of President Rafael Correa, although his bullish foreign policy, in evidence once again in the protracted saga surrounding the former US National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden, inevitably receives far more media coverage.
