President Juan Manuel Santos is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to conclude the peace process with the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) before a potential re-election bid. Santos has announced that the government and members of the ruling coalition will push through congress a bill creating the means for a referendum to be held on a hypothetical peace accord with the Farc on the same day as either legislative elections on 9 March 2014 or presidential elections on 25 May 2014.
