New trade minister. On 16 October President Juan Manuel Santos appointed Santiago Rojas Arroyo, the current president of Bancóldex, Colombia’s state-owned commercial bank, the new minister of trade, industry and tourism. Rojas replaces Sergio Díaz-Granados, who resigned on 7 October in order to take over the presidency of Santos’s Partido de la U. A close ally of Santos, Rojas has formerly served as: deputy foreign trade minister; the director of the customs authority; and the director of Fundación Buen Gobierno, the policy think-tank founded and headed by Santos until he assumed power in 2010.
