ARGENTINA: With Fernández sidelined, her allies feel the heat
A photo of President Cristina Fernández handing over the keys to several dozen houses in the province of San Juan on 4 October is the last post on what is usually the extremely busy Twitter account of @CFKArgentina. On 5 October, complaining of headaches and an irregular heartbeat, Fernández checked into hospital. After doctors diagnosed a blood clot on her brain, they operated on 8 October. Fernández is now under strict instruction to remain on medical leave until at the least the beginning of November. With the president out of the campaign for legislative elections, the opposition is relishing the opportunity to attack the underlings she has left in charge.
