SECURITY: Santos unsheathes sword as Farc dialogue shows little progress

With the peace talks in Havana, Cuba between the Colombian government and the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) failing to make much progress, President Juan Manuel Santos appears to have finally lost patience with the Farc’s stalling tactics. Very conscious of the fact that the Farc has exploited past talks to buy time and militarily re-group, he has ordered the security forces to launch a new offensive against the guerrilla group.
