POLITICS: Correa insists coup threat remains

President Rafael Correa commemorated the third anniversary of the police mutiny that his government branded an attempted coup on 30 September. Speaking in an interview on public radio, Correa said that the events of 30 September 2010, commonly referred to as 30S, “changed” the country. He also claimed that there are still “reactionary sectors of the police and military” linked to retired officers in the armed forces, opposition parties and the press, which could attempt to destabilise his government.
