According to latest labour ministry data, formal employment has been growing in Peru for 45 consecutive months to August 2013. The creation of formal (i.e. tax and social security eligible) jobs is critical to the efforts of the government led by President Ollanta Humala to deliver sustainable economic growth over the medium term and ease the dependence on the key mining sector to drive growth.
