BRAZIL: Prosecutors, judges and revelations about the PCC

The big news in Brazil in early October was the airing of a huge investigative effort by the public prosecutors of São Paulo into the country’s largest drug-trafficking gang, the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC). Most of the public attention went to claims of disruptive plots that brought back memories of the high toll of the PCC ‘uprising’ of just over seven years ago. Fewer headlines were devoted to the fact that the courts have held up action on the findings until they are more certain of the evidence submitted.
