BOLIVIA: Coca growers use force against eradication
The confrontation between coca eradication teams and coca growers in the Apolo area of the Yungas north of La Paz, which had been festering since May, erupted on 19 October into an armed clash that claimed four lives and left 29 injured. The government has said that this situation has been provoked by Peruvian drug traffickers recently established there and has announced the deployment of reinforcements to protect the eradication task forces.
