PERU: Cocaine airbridge moves into the Vraem

The Sendero Luminoso (SL) guerrillas in the Apurímac, Ene and Mantaro rivers valley (Vraem) may be, as the government claims, under increasing pressure from the military and police, but one thing is certain: the Vraem has become the launching pad for the cocaine airbridge with Bolivia, taking over from the Pilchis-Palcazú valley, which used to serve both the Huallaga and the Vraem coca industries.
