GUYANA: Guyana blacklisting a consequence of malfunctioning political system

The Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) has blacklisted Guyana. Guyana’s attorney general and minister of legal affairs, Anil Nandlall, released a statement saying that CFATF had identified Guyana as a jurisdiction with strategic AML/CFT [Anti Money Laundering and Countering of the Financing of Terrorism] deficiencies and that it had “not made sufficient progress in addressing the deficiencies [and had] not complied with its Action Plan developed with CFATF to address these deficiencies”.
