HONDURAS: Getting drug traffickers out of the air

Just days after approval by congress of the new shootdown law giving the Honduran air force broad new powers to force down suspected narco planes, a newly constituted inter-agency force, Fuerza Interagencial de Seguridad Aeroportuaria (Fisa), on 26 February took control of the country’s four main airports - Toncontín (Tegucigalpa), Ramón Villeda Morales (San Pedro Sula), Golosón (La Ceiba) and Juan Manuel Gálvez (Roatán) - in order to guard installations and fight against drug-trafficking.
