President Michelle Bachelet was sworn in on 11 March for a second four-year term (her first was in 2006-2010). The expectations weighing on Bachelet and her new centre-left administration are considerable. Given her main campaign pledge to redress social inequality in Chile, civil society groups have already announced a “march of marches” in late March in demand of constitutional reform, which Bachelet has said she will embark upon if necessary to deliver her promises.
